## [JEWISH CULTURES AND SOCIETIES](/jewish-cultures-and-societies)

## SPEAKER: Steven J. Zipperstein, Stanford University

Steven J. Zipperstein discusses novelist Philip Roth: his books, their language and writing, the genius and process that produced them, the circumstances under which they were written, the times in which they were published, and the sometimes darkness of his life. Why does Roth matter? Here, Zipperstein will illuminate the work of one of our greatest novelists in conversation with Dr. Rebecca Goldstein, American philosopher, novelist and public intellectual.
