He lives in Prague, where he studied English literature and culture at Charles University. His poetry collection </span><em><span>Rhizomy (Rhizomes)</span></em><span> was published in 2016. His novel </span><em><span>Memory Burn (Rozložíš paměť)</span></em><span>, delves into the aftermath of trauma and meticulously examines the way memory shapes who we are and how we perceive others; it earned Torčík the Jiří Orten Award and the Magnesia Litera Award for Prose (2024). English translation was published in 2025.&nbsp;</span></p><p><em><span>Co-sponsored by the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures.</span></em></p>
