CELESTIAL SPHERES

Speaker: Ross Andersen, The Atlantic

How to write about the scientific and cultural complexities of space exploration for a broad general audience? For this meeting of the Celestial Spheres seminar, Ross Andersen will share his experiences as a journalist covering the space sciences. Andersen is a staff writer at The Atlantic, where he specializes in cosmic questions of all kinds. He was previously the deputy editor of the print magazine. He is also the author of The Long Search, a book about the ongoing search for intelligent extraterrestrial life, forthcoming from Knopf.

Andersen’s recent writing has focused on the plight of NASA’s science directorate under the Trump administration, the Artemis II mission, and the newly launched Nancy Grace Roman Telescope. He has reported from Greenland, Chile, Russia, India, Pakistan, China, South Korea, and Japan.
