About the Speaker

Marek Torčík (1993) is a poet, novelist and journalist. He lives in Prague, where he studied English literature and culture at Charles University. His poetry collection Rhizomy (Rhizomes) was published in 2016. His novel Memory Burn (Rozložíš paměť), delves into the aftermath of trauma and meticulously examines the way memory shapes who we are and how we perceive others; it earned Torčík the Jiří Orten Award and the Magnesia Litera Award for Prose (2024). English translation was published in 2025.
